Honey Pills

Honey pills use refined honey as a binder to combine fine powdered Chinese herbs, making them suitable for tonics, children’s medicines, and valuable or volatile ingredients. Honey pills are soft and gentle due to the honey content and are often used for conditions requiring nourishment, such as qi deficiency, spleen and stomach weakness, and kidney deficiency， such as “Ren Shen Yang Rong Wan 人参养荣丸.” These pills have a long history in Chinese medicine, with early records in 《Fifty-two Prescriptions 五十二病方》 mentioning honey and jujube paste as binders for making pills.
